Lessons

Vance Music strives to develop skilled, creative, well-rounded, critical, and confident individuals through music lessons. Our instructors specialize in music instruction and consistently research repertoire, attend workshops, meet with other musicians, and perform music to stay current and provide top-notch education to our students.

Students may choose to pursue music instruction for a variety of reasons:

  • Exploring a new instrument
  • Playing music for fun
  • Preparing for music competitions
  • Preparing for ensemble or college auditions
  • Achieving a higher playing level for school
  • Learning to improvise or jam
  • Singing for karaoke night
  • Performing in a church setting
  • Effectively leading a praise band

The list of opportunities in music education goes on. We welcome students to work towards these goals and many more. When a student comes for their free lesson, our instructors evaluate their current skill set, why they want to study music, and then present them with tools needed at their level to begin their musical journey.

Many of the tools students will gain are music-based skills. Students may work on music literacy, stretching and good posture, finger combinations for the instrument, proper breathing techniques, ear training, and more. Other tools students will work on will directly benefit their day-to-day future, like organization, discipline in work or practice, speaking to an audience, self-confidence, communication with instructors and peers, etc. There are a great many academic benefits for budding musicians as well. According to SpreadMusicNow, in their article The Importance of Music, “Researchers have studied the benefits of music education for decades, consistently finding strong correlations between music and academic achievement.”

Whether studying music for the first time, or jumping back into music education, we would love to hear from you via our contact form at the bottom of our website and help you explore your musical goals through music lessons.
